Sprints overview
Sprints group related sessions into one phase of innovation work so you can plan, share, archive and report on them together.
A sprint is a phase of innovation work that groups several sessions. It sits in the middle of the planning structure: a project can contain sprints, and each sprint contains sessions. Use a sprint when a challenge needs more than one workshop, for example a discovery week with three sessions.
Why sprints matter
A sprint keeps related workshops together. You can open one page to see every session in the phase, put them in the right order, share the whole sprint with a colleague, copy the public agenda, and generate a sprint report when the work is done.
Key concepts
- Sprint details: Name (required), Challenge statement and Start date. The form shows your time zone, Time Zone (Yours: ...), with a link to change it in your account.
- Make a sprint from: when you create a sprint, choose Scratch (empty sprint), Template (copy a sprint template) or Previous (copy one of your earlier sprints, including its sessions).
- Sessions in a sprint: click Create session on the sprint page to add a session. You can drag sessions to change their order.
- Sprint actions: Share, Duplicate, Create template, Archive, Delete, Edit sprint, Agenda and Generate Sprint Report.
- Archived sprints: hidden from the active list but not deleted. Click Show archived on the Sprints page to see them and unarchive them.
- Personal vs team: sprints created in My Work are personal. Sprints created while a team is selected belong to that team. In your personal list, the row menu also offers Move to Team and Duplicate to Team if you belong to a team.
- Projects: a sprint can belong to a project. You link a sprint to a project by creating it from the project's page. You can't move an existing sprint to another project.
Where to find sprints
- In the workspace switcher (the narrow strip on the far left), click My Work for personal sprints, or a team's initials for that team's sprints.
- In the Instigator sidebar, click Sprints.
- Click Create sprint (top right of the list) to start a new one, or click the + icon in the top header and then + Create sprint.
- Click a sprint name to open it. The ... menu next to the sprint name and the ... menu on each row hold the sprint actions.
License limits
- Free: the Sprints page shows an upgrade message instead of your list, unless you are a member of a team.
- Basic: you can create up to 12 sprints. If you reach the limit, you see "You cannot create more Sprints under your current license. Please Upgrade."
- Professional: no sprint limit.
