How to create a Sprint from a template
Start a new sprint from a personal or global sprint template so its sessions and agendas are copied for you.
A sprint template is a reusable sprint with its sessions already planned. Creating a sprint from a template copies every session, with its agenda items and resources, into a new sprint you can edit.
Before you start
- The templates you can pick depend on your license. Free and Basic users only see templates marked for their license. Your own sprint templates are always listed when they match.
- The new sprint is created in the workspace that is selected in the workspace switcher (the narrow strip on the far left): My Work or a team.
Steps
From the Create sprint window
- In the Instigator sidebar, click Sprints, then click Create sprint.
- Under Make a sprint from, select Template.
- Choose a template from the dropdown that appears.
- Enter a Name (required) and, if you want, a Challenge statement and Start date.
- Click Create a Sprint. The new sprint opens with the template's sessions already in it.
From the Template library
- In the sidebar, click Template library and open the Sprints tab.
- Use the search box or Filter (by Tags or Next Cycle Tags) to find a template.
- Click the ... menu on the template's row and click Create sprint from template. You can also open the template and click the Create sprint from template button.
- Confirm with OK when asked "Are you sure?".
- The new sprint opens. Its name starts with "Created from". Click Edit sprint to rename it and set its dates.
What gets copied
- All sessions of the template, including agenda items and resources.
- The challenge statement.
- Any sprint reports saved in the template.
The copy is a normal sprint, so changing it does not change the template.
