How to create a Template from a Session

Save a copy of a session, with its agenda items and resources, as a personal template you can reuse from the Template library.

Turn a session you like into a reusable template. SolveNext Lab makes a template copy of the session and leaves the original session unchanged.

Before you start

You can create a template from sessions you own, sessions in your team workspaces, and sessions shared with you. The option is not shown for archived sessions.

Steps

  1. In the Instigator sidebar, click Sessions.
  2. Click the ... menu on the session's row and click Create template. You can also open the session and use the ... menu next to its name.
  3. Confirm with OK when asked "Are you sure?".
  4. The new template opens with the message "Session was successfully duplicated." Its name starts with "Template from".
  5. Click Edit in the ... menu to give the template a clearer name and update its Challenge statement.

What is in the template

  • All agenda items and resources.
  • The session's challenge statement and format.
  • Dates are cleared, the session is not linked to a sprint, and Teams, Duos and Individuals are reset to 1.
  • No Miro board link is copied, so new virtual posters are created when you play a session made from it.
  • The template is personal: only you see it, and it shows Me in the Created by column.

Use your template

  1. In the sidebar, click Template library and open the Sessions tab.
  2. Click the ... menu on the template's row and click Create session from template.

You can also choose Template under Make a session from in the Create session window.

Tips

  • You can keep editing the template: open it from the Template library and use Add drill, Add agenda item or Add divider in its ... menu.
  • Admins can make the template available to everyone. See How to create a Global Template.
