Drill Library overview
Browse, filter and use curated innovation drills, add them to sessions, print their posters and keep one-off drills in On the fly drills.
The Drill Library is the catalogue of innovation exercises (drills) curated by SolveNext. Each drill is a structured activity for a practice such as Think Wrong, and you use drills to build session agendas or to run an exercise on its own.
Why it matters
Drills are the building blocks of every workshop. Picking the right drill, with the right timing and format, is what turns a session agenda into a useful working meeting.
Key concepts
- Drill: one exercise. Click a drill card to open its detail window, with the tabs Overview (practice, Allocated time, Modality, Rating, When to use and Outcomes), Instructions, Tips, Examples, Images, Videos, Printable Poster, Rating, Attribution, Related drills and Share drill. Tabs only show when the drill has that content.
- Practice: the innovation practice a drill belongs to. Practices show as coloured circles in the filter bar.
- License: drills are Free, Basic or Professional. Drills above your plan show a lock and an upgrade message.
- Tags: keywords that SolveNext admins add to drills. You can filter by them under Popular Tags.
- Top 10 Drills: a collapsible list of the most used drills at the top of the library.
- Add drill to session: adds the drill to one of your sessions as an agenda item.
- Use drill now: runs a single drill without a session. It is saved as an "on the fly" drill.
- Posters: many drills include printable posters. Sessions can also create Miro boards (virtual posters) for each drill.
On the fly drills (your own drills)
When you click Use drill now on a drill, you name it, add an optional description, and click Save. This creates your own copy of the drill. Your copies are listed under On the fly drills in the My work section of the sidebar (personal workspace only). From there you can open the drill's Instructions, Use Drill, Edit or Delete it, and open a Miro board for it. These drills are private to you. To share one with your team, add the library drill to a session and share the session.
There is no separate "New drill" button. On the fly drills are always created from a library drill with Use drill now.
Where to find it
- In the left sidebar, click Drill library. It is available in your personal workspace and in team workspaces.
- On a session page, click Add drill to open the library ready to add drills to that session.
- Use the search box in the top bar to find drills, sessions, sprints and templates by name.
You need to be signed in to use the Drill Library.
