How to create a Miro virtual white board from a drill

Create a Miro board from a drill's template, for each team, duo or individual in a virtual or hybrid session, or for an on the fly drill.

Many drills come with a Miro template. The Next Lab can copy that template into a new board in your Miro account. In a virtual or hybrid session, you get a board for each team, duo or individual.

Before you start

  • You need a Miro account. The first time, Miro asks you to sign in and allow SolveNext to create boards.
  • Only people who can edit the session can create boards. Other participants see the Miro link once a board exists.
  • Miro is the only virtual whiteboard tool currently offered.

Steps (in a session)

  1. Open the session and use the ... menu to click Edit. Set Session format to Virtual or Hybrid. Enter the number of Individuals, Duos and Teams, and save.
  2. Make sure the session agenda has drills. Click Add drill on the session page to add them.
  3. Click Play. The play view opens in a new tab and creates the virtual posters.
  4. Click a drill in the agenda to expand it. Depending on the drill's format, you see one card per team, duo or individual, or one card for the whole group.
  5. Click a card's name to expand it, then click Miro.
  6. If asked, sign in to Miro and approve access. A new board is created from the drill's template and opens in Miro.
  7. The link is saved. Next time, Miro opens the same board.

Steps (on the fly drill)

  1. In Drill library, open a drill and click Use drill now, then Save.
  2. On the drill page, click Miro.

Tips

  • If you change the number of teams, duos or individuals, save and click Update virtual posters in the play view.
  • Click the edit icon next to a card, or Edit name, to rename the boards for your participants.
  • If the Miro integration is not available, the page shows a message and a video. In that case, print the drill's posters as a PDF and upload them to your own Miro board. If you need help with this, contact SolveNext support.
