Licensing overview
The Free, Basic and Professional licenses, what each one unlocks, how the trial works and how to upgrade or get a team or enterprise plan.
Your license (shown as Subscription in your account) decides which parts of SolveNext Lab you can use. Every account has one of three licenses: Free, Basic or Professional. Teams and enterprises get Professional access through their organization.
Why it matters
Some features, such as Next Tools, AI Innovation Assistants and team management, need a paid license. Knowing your license helps you understand why a page shows an upgrade message and what to do about it.
License types
- Free: you can create up to 5 Sessions and up to 4 templates of your own. The Sprints page shows an Upgrade your subscription message instead of your sprints, unless you are a member of a team. In the Leader sidebar, the Next Tools and AI Innovation Assistants links take you to the upgrade plans instead (for example, Upgrade to use Next Tools).
- Basic: removes the Free limits on Sessions and templates and gives access to Sprints, up to 12 Sprints. When you reach that limit you see "You cannot create more Sprints under your current license. Please Upgrade." Next Tools and AI Innovation Assistants are available.
- Professional: everything in Basic with no Sprint limit, plus creating, editing and managing teams (adding and removing users, and giving or removing the team admin role).
Drills and templates can also be marked as Free, Basic or Professional content. In the drill library, you can use the License filter (Free, Basic, Professional) to see which content belongs to each level.
Free trial
New accounts start with a 14-day Professional trial. When the trial ends, your account goes back to the Free license unless you buy a subscription or join a team that gives you a license.
How to upgrade
- Open the plans page. You can get there from any Upgrade your subscription button, or from an upgrade link in the sidebar.
- Pick the plan you want from the pricing table and complete the payment. Payments are handled securely by Stripe.
- When the payment is done, you return to SolveNext Lab with your new license.
If you already have a paid subscription, the same page shows your Subscription, its issue date and its expiration date, plus a Manage your subscription button. That button opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can change or cancel your plan.
To compare plans before you sign up, see the public pricing page at /pricing.
Teams and enterprise
- Teams: when you join a team that has a license, your account gets Professional access with the team's license dates. Team members can also use Sprints and create Sessions and templates without the Free limits.
- Enterprise: to get an Enterprise plan, click Contact Us under Enterprise on the pricing page.
- Enterprise-wide enrollment: an enterprise team can be set up with a list of email domains. When someone signs up with an email address on one of those domains, they are added to that team automatically and their license follows the team's expiration date. SolveNext sets this up for your organization.
If you think your license is wrong, or you need more seats on a team, contact SolveNext support.
