How to advance step by step and automatically create sprints
Advance an Innovation Opportunity one step at a time. Sprints are not created automatically today, so add them to the linked project yourself.
You can advance an opportunity one step at a time through the Next Cycle. Earlier versions of SolveNext Lab could also create a sprint automatically when a new stage started. That automatic sprint creation is not available in the current app.
Advance one step
- Open the opportunity. In the Leader sidebar, click Innovation Opportunities and click its name.
- In the Next Cycle bar, find the highlighted segment (the current step).
- Click the segment right after it. If the current step is the last one in its stage, click the first segment of the next stage, or click the next stage's name.
- You see "Opportunity was successfully updated." and the bar shows the new step.
About automatic sprint creation
Today, the app does not create a sprint when you create an opportunity or move it to a new step or stage. To plan workshops for the new stage, add a sprint to the opportunity's linked project yourself:
- Open the linked project in the Instigator area. See Navigate between projects and innovation opportunities.
- Click Create sprint and fill in the sprint details, or create the sprint from a template. See How to create a sprint from a template.
If you need help with this, contact SolveNext support.
Tips
- Advancing one step at a time is optional. You can also click any later step to jump straight to it.
- Before you advance, record what you learned as hypotheses and small bets so the Full report shows your progress for each stage.
