How to add and remove the team admin role

Give a team member the team admin role with Make admin, or take it away with Remove as admin, from the team's user list.

Team admins can add and remove members, send invitations, and manage other admins. You can make any team member an admin, or remove the role, from the team's user list.

Before you start

  • You must be a team admin of this team and have a Professional license. If you don't meet these requirements, the buttons open an upgrade prompt.
  • The person must already be a member of the team. See Add users to a team.

Steps

  1. Open the team's user list in one of these ways:
    • Click TEAMS in the ADMIN section of the Instigator sidebar, then click the team name.
    • In the team workspace, click Users under Admin team users in the sidebar.
  2. Find the person in the table. To find them faster, type a name, an exact email address or @domain.com in the Search team users... box.
  3. In the Admin column:
    • Click Make admin to give them the team admin role. You see "User role changed to admin", and the person gets an email letting them know.
    • Click Remove as admin to make them a regular team user again. You see "Admin role Removed".

Tips

  • A team should always have at least one admin. Before you remove your own admin role, make someone else an admin.
  • Removing the admin role doesn't remove the person from the team. To remove them completely, click Remove in the Actions column.
  • When you invite someone who doesn't have an account yet, you can choose Team admin as their role in the invitation. See How to invite a user to join your team.
