How to use a Session
Create a session, build its agenda with drills, custom items and dividers, then play it with your participants.
A session is a single workshop. You create it, build an agenda, and then run it in Play mode.
Before you start
Sessions you create in My Work are personal. To create a team session, first click the team's initials in the workspace switcher on the far left.
Steps
- In the Instigator sidebar, under My work, click Sessions, then click Create session.
- Under Make a session from, keep Scratch. Enter a Name and, if you want, a Client and a Challenge statement.
- Choose a Session format, set the Start date and the time zone, and set the number of Individuals, Duos and Teams. Click Create Session.
- On the session page, click Add drill to open the Drill library. Open a drill and click Add drill to session.
- To add other rows, click Add item and choose Add agenda item (a custom activity such as a break) or Add divider. Fill in the form and click Continue.
- Manage each agenda row with its ... menu: Detail, Edit (name, notes, Duration, Execution type and resources), Delete or Duplicate. Drag the handle on the right to reorder rows.
- Click Session detail below the session name to see or hide the session details.
- When you are ready, click Play to open the session for participants. Use Agenda to see the full agenda and Copy link to agenda.
- After the workshop, click Generate Report.
Tips
- Start times for each row are calculated from the session Start date and each item's duration. The last row shows END.
- Check the number of teams, duos and individuals before you click Play. Virtual posters are created from these numbers.
- The ... menu next to the session name also has Edit, Duplicate, Create template, Review, Share and Archive.
