Folders overview

Use folders and sub-folders to keep your Innovation Opportunities, sprints and sessions organized.

Folders help you keep your work tidy. You can group Innovation Opportunities (projects), sprints and sessions into folders, and nest folders inside other folders, much like folders on your computer.

Why use folders

  • Find work faster when your lists grow long.
  • Group items by client, department, program or year.
  • Keep finished work out of the way without archiving it.

Key concepts

  • Folder type: Each folder belongs to one list. A folder created in the Sessions list holds sessions, a folder created in the Sprints list holds sprints, and a folder created in the Innovation Opportunities list holds projects. You cannot mix item types in one folder.
  • Sub-folders: Open a folder and click New folder to create a folder inside it.
  • Workspace: Folders created in a team workspace belong to that team. Folders created in your personal workspace are yours.
  • Moving items: Sprints and sessions have a Move to folder option in the ... menu on their row. Moving existing projects into a folder is currently not available.

Where to find it

  • Sessions: In the Instigator sidebar, click Sessions, then New folder.
  • Sprints: In the Instigator sidebar, click Sprints, then New folder.
  • Innovation Opportunities: In the Leader sidebar, click Innovation Opportunities, then New folder.

Folders appear at the top of each list with a folder icon. Click a folder name to open it. Use the breadcrumb at the top of the page to go back up.

Managing folders

  • Rename: Click the ... menu on the folder's row and choose Edit folder.
  • Delete: Click the ... menu on the folder's row and choose Delete, then confirm with OK when asked "Are you sure?". A folder can only be deleted when it is empty. Otherwise you see a message that the folder cannot be deleted because it is not empty.

Good to know

  • Folders for Innovation Opportunities are available on the Pro license and for team members. On other licenses you see an upgrade message inside the folder.
  • When you move a project or Innovation Opportunity to a team, it is taken out of its folder.
